I am an Arizona native, born in the small copper mining town of Miami, approximately 70 miles east of the Phoenix area. Growing up in a small town was the best possible experience I could have because I learned to respect others, have compassion for their hardships and to assist others whenever I could. Prior to entering the mortgage industry in 1990, I worked for the local copper mine in Miami for seventeen years. Working with people who go to work every day to try to make a living and provide for their families taught me a lot about the struggles that people go through in life. I personally have been in that same position and this is why I enjoy helping people get ahead in life and to achieve their goals and dreams.
The mortgage industry has changed a lot since I began. Savings and Loan Institutions and Banks were the only players in the mortgage market. I became a licensed Real Estate sales agent in 1977 and for my 24 hour renewal, I took the twenty-four hour mortgage broker class. I then obtained my mortgage broker license and opened a small office in Globe.
I have worked for only four mortgage companies since 1990, when I began my loan originator career. The first company went bankrupt in 2007, as many did, after I spent over seventeen years as an originator, manager and owner. I then sought out a mortgage company and found Premier Financial. Later, when BNC National Bank was looking to enter the Arizona Market, they took over the operations of Premier. I joined Evolve Bank & Trust in 2015 and I am happy to have found a mortgage institution that shares the same core values that I have; lending a helping hand to those who need the best professional service and care when making one of the biggest decisions in their life.
I am a nationally published author for Hondros Publishing (the parent company of Arizona School of Real Estate and Business), writing textbooks for the required 20 Hour Prelicensing course and the 8 hour continuing education class that licensees are required to take annually. The research for these books keep me fully informed of all of the statues and regulations regarding mortgage loan financing. I have been teaching classes at the school since May of 2008. I began teaching classes for mortgage loan processor training to help a co-worker out. I am a Certified Mortgage Consultant, one of only thirteen in Arizona.
I enjoy spending time with my family. My wife Brenda and I have been married over thirty five years. We have two great daughter and sons in law. My oldest daughter, Tara, lives in Minnesota with her husband Aaron and they have two children. My youngest daughter, Taylor lives in Chandler with her two children. I enjoy reading biographies of the national™s presidents. Two of the most interesting presidents I have read about are FDR and LBJ.
